The Emergy Society’s New Logo

The ISAER Logo Committee consisting of Don Blancher, Mark Brown, Dan Campbell,
Mary Logan, Betty Odum, David Tilley, Denis White, and Ira Winarsky worked with a
team of professional designers from Lux Design of San Francisco California from late
December 2012 to early March 2013 to develop a logo for the International Society for the
Advancement of Emergy research, a.k.a., the Emergy Society. The primary logo is shown
above as a two color orange vertical and horizontal form and in a black and white version.
This logo will be our official trade name and can be placed as a trade mark on any goods or
services that we endorse. We will use this mark  on our official products and services.

Rationale for the ISAER logo.

The mark is an open or dynamic “e” symbolizing the search for maximum empower, the
open “e” is topped by seven rays reflecting the solar base for emergy and also the
association of emergy with quality, e.g., a sparkling diamond. The aspect of quality is
woven into the design in the exact weighting of the lines shapes and color saturation levels.
The typographic symbol leads with the Emergy Society part of our name displayed
prominently backed by the initials of the Society in our web address, isaer.org.  The prefix,
“em-” is emphasized in the word “emergy” through using a slightly lighter orange and by
offsetting the prefix in the word alignment.  The typography is rendered with the same
attention to quality as that found in the symbol and the rounded lettering projects and open
friendliness and accessibility that invites people to learn more about emergy and the
Society.
